Pilot reviews of Tibenham AirfieldOther airfield reviews...
Mon 14 Apr - Bob Chapman - Nazeing Essex.
“Flew into Tibenham on Sunday 13th, the field is geared more toward the very active gliding club, but with a little understanding we and the other 3 aircraft in the group got down and parked. The food was excellent and the people could not have been friendlier or more helpfull, we sat outside in the sunshine and enjoyed the peace and watched the gliders being launced by both tug plane and winch. Departing was easy, just wait for the winch cable to land, then go.”

“Large airfield, very friendly. Great Sunday lunches (book one before you set off over the phone as they sell out fast).
Former WW2 USAAF base commanded by hollywood filmstar Jimmy Stewart, now home to Norfolk Gliding Club.
Gliders operate 7 days per week. Beware winch lauches - no over-head joins. Call 01379 677207 for a briefing.

“Flew over to Tibenham today to the Fly-In organised by the member of "another" forum. Although basically a glider airfield, powered aircraft are welcome, subject to a briefing. No shortage of runways....there are 12 if you count the grass strips, so you should find one to suit!. A/G is informal and once down there's an active clubhouse which provides good basic food quickly and with good value. There's a small photo board with pictures of Jimmy Stewart (the actor) who flew from here in WW2. Altogether an interesting and different venue.”
