Mon 5 May - Roy C - Bolton (fly From Blackpool)
Just visited Sherburn In Elmet today and what a superb facility. Really friendly welcome and although we didnt have time for more than a quick coffee the food looked ace. I was right hand seat so had time to enjoy the approach which was from the west and no trouble at all finding the airfield. The whole place seems so well kept and looked after it must be a pleasure to be based there. Will be back very soon. Roy C Blackpool

Sherburn is an excellent airfield and club suitable for use all year round, owing to its four runways. The club is well kept with friendly staff and good services. Most of the members are also fairly decent...other than the disrespectful members who had a moan at the ex-servicemen who were enjoying their exercise provided by the decent guys at Fenton the other week. Shame on you!

I'm Based at sherburn so biased but anyway.... Cracking airfield with excellent facilites. Newly decorated Club house (last year) with a nice bar, comfy leather sofas with tables so you can sit and chat in comfort. There is a nice patio/grass area infront of the clubhouse where the kids can run around and the adults can get some sun and watch the comings and goings on the airfield. The "String Bag" restaurant run by Jill serves excellent food, the Ostrich burger is must. Theres a hard runway so the airfield can be used in wet weather and with 8 runways in total (2 hard and 6 grass) theres usually a runway without a crosswind. Everyone at Sherburn will make you feel completely welcome.

As a member of Solent Flight based in the deep south up here in the darkest north for 6 months Sherburn Airfield and its attached facilities have made me so very welcome even arranging a tempory membership for me at a very reasonable price. Cant find a bad thing to say. A visit is very worthwhile.

Visited today in our C182. Very friendly reception, very nice airfield, great cafe / bar complete with pool table! Didn't stay for food but good cuppa for us and C182 food was cheaper than Barton.

Easy approach but make sure you get the right airfield as there are two right next door to each other.

Will be back.

Flew as divert from Elvington Dec 17 2003. Fab breakfast on huge plate at reasonable price. Staff in restaurant and ops could not have been more friendly and helpful.

Will deffo go there again!

Flew in from the south on a clear, CAVOK day. The airfield was very easy to find from this direction because of the line of three power stations that "funnels you in". The airfield is very clean, tidy and obviously well maintained, with a superb clubhouse and cafe (top notch bacon butties!). The whole place seemed very professionally run, and the sign outside the office is worth the visit alone!

Highly recommended. BTW don't let all that noise abatement stuff in the flight guides scare you, it's really no problem because all the NIMBY strongholds are clearly visible and easy to avoid... ; )

I visited on a busy Saturday. i had a little difficulty in locating the field but the local RAF bent over backwards to be of assistance. (The field is within the MATZ). Super friendly people with a very professional attitude.

The bacon butties in the bar were excellent and certainly not over priced. this is a good one to bear in mind for a visit.
