Pilot reviews of Sandhill Farm Airfield

Fri 1 Feb - Chris Cauwood - Stamford, Lincs
“Having business at nearby Shrivenham I always thought it would be excellent to 'drop in' at Sandhill Farm. When the opportunity arose I called for PPR to be routed around two or three people who were to call me back. When the call came, even though I wanted to land mid week (when no gliding took place) it was an unreserved 'NO' We are gliders only - the farmer won't like it etc etc.
When tasked with the fact they are in the various Guides, Lockyears Farm Strips and on the 500,000 chart - I was told ' well we shouldn't be'
This has put me off the gliding community I'm afraid with their non motorised closed shop attitude. GA is in enough doldrums without pettiness and such a waste of decent landing facilities being denied. If one of their people called me asking to land at my field I'd have the kettle on...”
