Pilot reviews of Peterborough Sibson Airfield

Other airfield reviews...

Mon 30 Jun - Dave Remnant - Denham
Visited this nice field on the way back to Denham from Manchester. The field looks very small from the air, in fact both the P1 and I had lengthy discussion on Pooleys being wrong, showing 900mtrs (only to be totally disproved when on the gound). Strange optical illusion? High power lines are definately an "eye-opener" on finals (as per 2 previous reviews) although climbing out over the trees presented no problems. Fuelled up and were given free coffee and doughnuts (very helpful and friendly staff and ATC). Surprisingly little activity (the parachuting aircraft was broken) only saw 2 other movements while there, but understand this is the exception rather than the rule. Will definately visit again. Worth dropping in.

I flew into Peterborough Sibson from Andrewsfield on Friday 1st June in my Jabiru J430 with some friends in a 172 from North Weald. Food and drinks available from machine, but the very kind lady in the tower offered us the use of her car, to go to the local pub for lunch, which we did. A nice lunch and very friendly people at the airfield, the field is easy to find and whilst it does have power lines near the threshold, they really do not present any problems. Highly Recommended

Visited Sibson Saturday. Grass field with two runways 15/33 and 24/06. on 24 there are some High tension electric cables about 1.5 miles on final, they focus the approach. also at the end on climb out there are trees close to the fence.

The aerodrome is very busy on weekends with paracuting and fixed wing flying. The flying school there had a large number of planes to hire, Piper worrior, Arrow, Robin, Cub, Pits, Moth,

Seamed a very fiendly place no cafe but food and drinks avalible from vending machine.

in the RAF wittering MATZ so in the week they give Sqwark etc. not a problem i believe.

all in all a very warm welcome awaits, lots to see and very GA.
