Free tea, sarney and landing for QXCs to Old SarumMonday, 7 Nov 2005 Old Sarum Flying Club (www.oldsarumflyingclub.co.uk), a vibrant, Salisbury-based flying club based on the second-oldest operational airfield in the UK, has announced that it will offer a free bacon sandwich, a cup of tea and a waived landing fee to all student pilots flying their qualifying cross country. From Monday 24th of October, all student pilots flying their qualifying cross-country visiting the Old Sarum flying club airfield will be made welcome by operations and catering staff whose aim is to make the visit as stress-free and relaxing as possible. “Every pilot remembers their cross country qualifier,“ commented Simon Birt, Business Development Manager at Old Sarum Flying Club, himself a recently qualified pilot. “We've all been there and it can be a nerve-wracking experience. Our offer will go some way to easing the strain on these new pilots by settling their nerves with some traditional home-cooked food to boost their energy levels and a waived landing fee to ease finances.“ All student pilots should present themselves to the Old Sarum Flying Club operations desk on arrival where staff will be delighted to welcome them. Vegetarians are warmly invited to enjoy a sticky bun or some other vegetarian option from the extensive club menu.
