Old Sarum Flying Club appoint a new CFISubmitted by: Rebecca Burns , Wednesday, 9 Apr 2008 Salisbury-based flying club Old Sarum has this month announced the appointment of David Perry as the new Chief Flying Instructor (CFI). Old Sarum Flying Club is a 600-member club located on the outskirts of Salisbury, around 10 minutes flying time from the south coast. The Club operates from Old Sarum Airfield, the UK’s second oldest operational aerodrome. David Perry has been associated with the club since 1989 when he hangared an aircraft there, and in 2006 he qualified as an instructor with David Scouller, the Club's Head of Professional Training. David is currently employed as a Senior First Officer with Thomas Cook, flying A320/321 aircraft, and also works part-time as an instructor at Old Sarum. David was originally employed as a Biology Teacher before becoming a Management Consultant and going on to set up his own Management Training Company. He started his flying career on night freight Trislander out of Lydd Airport then went on to Caledonian operating in the USA, Mexico and the Azores. David is passionate about light aviation and “would do anything to encourage it and the pilots who make it what it is”. After eight years at Old Sarum, the outgoing CFI, Madeline Mountford, is moving to Professional Air Training at Bournemouth to instruct CPL/IRs.
