| “ |  Flew into Nuthampstead from Tatenhill this week. The airfield is easy to find, just 5nm due South of Fowlmere. Plus of course, BKY VOR is located right on the airfield, past the departure end of runway 23 - so if the prevailing wind favours 05, you overfly it on short finals! There is a hangar at the far end of runway 05 - that's where to find the log. No landing fee. A Union flag, and several Stars and Stripes, supplement the windsock located at the (closed) cross-runway. Runway surface (grass) is good enough, but if using 05, make sure you use all available grass landing distance; shortly before the hangar, the remnants of the cross-runway (or taxiway?) are made of tarmac! I used 123.05 as mentioned in frequency guides, but had been advised on PPR that the field is usually unmanned. Also, it was mentioned that people sometimes cross the field regardless of traffic, so a "clearing" low pass is recommended. Nice enough place with the yellow fields around.
