Pilot reviews of Norwich AirfieldHave you visited
Fri 27 Jun - Roy C - Bolton (fly From Blackpool)
“Visited Norwich this week ( right hand seat ) ATC good and arrived at a quiet time. Instructed to park on apron and like others, bus to the terminal. It was courteous and quick but fees not cheap. Full security when we departed but again ATC got us away quickly. We did try the website and searches to find any GA facilities but nothing showed up. Good day and other than security and cost all aok.
Sandwich and coffee in main terminal side cafe, usual and as expected. There is a full cafe but this was busy.
If anyone knows of GA facilities maybe you could let the forum know any details for other ukga members.

“Flew into Norwich a few weeks ago in a PA-28, it cost £42 in landing fee's.
Also when leaving the terminal, we were told to go through the standard departures route, which involved security throwing away the food and drink we'd just bought in the terminal!! Regardless of how many times we told them we were in our own aircraft, they said we had to go through the same security procedures as people travelling with the airlines....absolutely ridiculous!! ”

“Myself and another pilot friend flew into Norwich Airport on 19th Jan 07. We were both shocked to find that the landing fee for a PA28 was a whopping £35 !!”

“When flying into Norwich to avoid all the fussing about going through the arrivals and departure halls arrange to go into hangar 10 or 12 which is where the flying schools are based. There is a modern bar and restaurant available. This can be done on the radio when talking to the tower. Not possible however if you are flying in from abroad.
Norwich now provide Lars for this area since Coltishall closed down and are providing an excellent service. ”

“Norwich is a fair bit busier now than when I went there for my QXC in 2003. I understand there's a new GA centre, but I didn't see it as I was only there for a short time; I was met by a minibus which took me to the ops room.
Landing fee £13.75 (cash) for a C152. Food in passenger terminal unsurprisingly very pricey. ”

“Flew in for a club flight. Good cheap landing fees (£10 for the 4 of us) and easy to use facilities. Best resturant is 5 minutes walk (steakeater / happypub type thing) but its better than the airport canteen which is expensive and busy.
Need to take high vis vests. Bused from the aircraft to the checkin and back again. Not really suited for kids if not reined in as you're mixing it on the ground with big jets ”Have you visited |
