“Visited EGBJ a couple of times now. Always a friendly and welcoming airfield.
Glos is a true GA field with Business Jets and Piston Singles everywhere. Nice food and drink in the onsite bar/cafe.
Very impressed.”

“Very helpful ATC and staff all round. Remember the ATIS before contact (i didn't but they were very polite in pointing this out!). Expensive but at least you get good service and decent, modern facilities. Lovely runways, but a bus circuit, and remember the noise abatement procedures. Recommended - pay it a visit.”

“Pricey for a GA field but for what you get, full ATC etc, it's semi-understandable.
Nice presentable cafe, that you wouldn't be embarassed to take a non-flying friend to.
Friendly, professional staff and nice little briefing area set aside with PC and Intenet acess for self-briefing in the departure/reception area.”
30 May 07 - Joe Edwards - Cheltenham - fly from Gloucestershire Airport
“Based there so biased. ATC are fab, if sometimes cautious when a jet is inbound. Busy airport with training, instrument approaches and heli as well as the private jets. Runways pointing everywhere. Cafe/bar is very much improved recently - and will be much better come July ! I hear the briefing facilities are very good - but never use them as I use Cotswold Aero Club - who will welcome anyone by the way for a cup of tea and a chat if you want to do your briefing there”
30 May 07 - Martin Barnes - bristol UK
“Staverton as I will always think of it is THE top ga facilty in the uk
great service, value for money. they are always worth a visit. If you cant afford the reasonable landing fees relative to the service and facilities provided you are probably a cheapskate!”
30 May 07 - Iain Smith - Birmingham
“I have always had a pleasant experience when visiting Gloucester. ATC are very helpful and at times are very busy. They also have light jet traffic which always lands on 27/09, so you may have to orbit in order to maintain spacing and vortex.
The cafe is okay for a quick snack and has recently been updated with new furniture. Roll on 1st July and the no smoking ban. ”

“I've been to Gloucester on training flights and at first was rather daunted by the prospect of it being the busiest place I'd been. As it happened, I needn't have worried. ATC were brilliant, even when I got a bit confused taxying around!
So much so I was quite looking forward to going back on my QXC, and again everyone was really helpful. Would make a nice confidence-building visit for anyone not used to full ATC. ”
2 Mar 05 - JONATHAN BELLWOOD - AMERSHAM
“Just completed my PPL training at Gloucester with Duncan Keen who was an excellent instructor. I found ATC in general pleasant but in need of the occassional push so as not to add unnecessary time to your flight. The cafe is good for basic quick cold sandwiches.”

“I visited Glos yesterday. I know it well as I trained and was based there. I felt I would receive a warm welcome...but alas, caught in a shower, I was instructed to join overhead (even though only one aircraft in the circuit). I was told not to park at the stand next to the terminal building and had to walk across the apron in the rain to pay my landing fee. (Couldnt quite work out why as there were no visiting jets) And to add insult, I was held up because they were not sure if my fuel account was still valid and whilst they found out and I had refuelled, time was 7:31 and they told me my account may be charged for keeping the airfield open as my indemnity had lapsed. Now I know that if you turn up in a jet, the story is different.....! Will I go there again? I think not. There are much more user friendly airfields within striking distance of Glos. Such a pity, it could be a brilliant GA airfield. Gloucester RIP.”

“went to gloucestershire on sunday to visit the transair shop easy to find for the first time and to join over head. nice long runways and good facilities but rather expensive to land £18.00 for PA 38. The transair shop does not offer any discount for flying in to shop there, (not that they should but it would have been nice if they did).
Good self briefing unit in the reception and friendly staff. 50-50 as to whether i would return there. (only due to the price). Would definatly return if there was an incentive from transair to call in. ”Have you visited |
