Gloucestershire Airport (EGBJ)Submitted by: Richard Maxted Copied from the Forum....
Nick King - Swansea
Just a little tip when flying to Gloucester airport for those who have not been there. They have a very busy circuit and normally ask for over head join, as a rule ( not always but 90 %). Climb runway heading to circuit height before turning on course on leaving.
Airfield has three runways so 6 directions and helicopters so mark one eye ball outside the cockpit, approach tower and ground with ATIS.
When landed a little tip to save money as landing fee can be expensive £18 for PA38 so any thing over a 1000kg more. If you up load fuel there is a discount if you say you are on a training flight there is a discount. Reduces fee to £10.00
Transair have a shop there out side the terminal but no discount offered for landing and some stuff cheaper on the net than in the shop.
The cafe is on the left opposite the Gloucester Javalin on gate guard, but be warned on the many visits I have been there the cafe is a passive smoker paradise.
The airport have an impressive self briefing unit.
Hope this help any one who has not been there for a while or at all, also floro jackets are recommended.
Tim Lee - Cardiff There are noise abatement procedures to be followed at EGBJ:
Departures Runway 18 -
All departing aircraft are to execute a 20° left turn when passing the upwind end of the runway. Tracking 160° MAG, climb through 700 ft QFE before turning right.
Departures Runway 22 -
No left turns permitted until passing Chosen Hill (1.2 DME).
Departures Runway 27 -
All departing aircraft are to execute a 10° right turn when passing the upwind end of the runway. Tracking 280° MAG, climb through 600 ft QFE before turning left. Aircraft unable to comply with 10° turn after take off should advise ATC and climb straight ahead through 1400 ft QNH.
