I am currently learning to fly at Eshott and having a great time.

The locals are all friendly and willing to help when needed. Improvments are being made to facilities here, they have recently built new toilets and added a small extension to the already good sized club house. Plenty of tea and coffee on the go.

Runways are tip-top. Try not to over fly the neighbouring houses or they'll get you with thier giant flie swats!

Just to confirm the runways are in A1 condition. Watch the grass though as it has some holes and ruts.

Also, worth making sure that you mention if you need fuel. They are helpful folks but not all of them are able to dispense it and they need to call for help.

Highly recommend it as a destination , calling in point. Newscastle Zone are very friendly and the route from Redcar up the coast is superb and commonly used so that both Teesside and Newcastle are happy to clear you through the zones.

The weeds are all gone - the East West and North South runways have been tarmaced three weeks ago. Lovely and smooth!

The natives are still as friendly but PPR is recommended due to sensitive locals.

I flew into and out of Eshott last year and found it a very friendly place.
Both runways were a bit overgrown (weeds growing through the tarmac) but not bad.
I think that they had just increased one of the runways (East-West) up to 700m.
Mostly microlights but welcoming to all.
I enjoyed operating from there; Newcastle is so expensive for landing....
